Position Summary: The Assistant/Associate Director for Principal Gifts is a vital member of the Principal Gifts team in the Office of Alumnae/i Affairs & Development of Vassar College. This team is focused on securing gifts of $1 million and greater for the College. This position reports to the Director of Development for Principal Gifts, and collaborates with the Director, the Principal Gifts team, and Leadership Gifts staff to accomplish objectives. The exact title will be determined based on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
Responsibilities include: Principal Gifts Strategic Planning Coordinate development-related activities involving the President of the College, Senior Officers, key volunteers, and Trustees. Work focuses on securing appointments with top donors and prospects, coordinating itineraries, briefing the President and other senior officials in advance of meetings, and arranging logistics of planned meetings. Develop and maintain relationships with principal prospects in order to secure development meetings for the President, Senior Officers and senior volunteers. Function as liaison with the President's Office on all matters relating to development calendar planning. Volunteer Support: Serve as initial point of contact with senior volunteers and officers of the College in support of Principal Gifts strategic plans. Provide immediate and thorough support to senior volunteers and officers of the College in support of development-related activities and other general matters of the College.
Visitor Liaison: Serve as front-line representative of the President and the Office of Alumnae/i Affairs & Development in welcoming high level visitors to campus for development and other purposes.
Program Coordination: Assist in planning, coordinating and implementing biannual meetings of the President's Advisory Council and provide support in organizing annual meetings of the International President's Advisory Council. Support ongoing communication with Council member and other senior volunteers between meetings.
Information Management: Partner with Development Operations to create new reports as needed, and to produce reports, lists, and other resources that aid the strategic planning process.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent strongly preferred. Five or more years of professional experience required; development, fundraising, or other non-profit experience desired. Requires a commitment to the core values of a liberal arts education. Familiarity with Vassar College is a plus. Must have ability and desire to work well with esteemed donors, senior college officials and diverse constituents, and to make an impact in a fast-paced environment. Desired candidate will demonstrate initiative, be detail-oriented, have excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and superb organizational skills. Ability to meet deadlines and achieve ambitious goals working independently and in a team environment required. Highly developed computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel required; Filemaker, Banner, or other database systems preferred.

Organization Name: Hadassah - The Women's Zionist Organization of America, is a NY City based international Human Services organization. a Major Gifts professional to help them as they expand their Major Gifts Fundraising efforts.
Job Title: Major Gift Officer (MGO) supports Major Gift initiatives in the Lower Hudson Valley. The MGO works in tandem with area volunteer leaders and major gift teams to identify prospective major donors, participate in developing goals, prospect approaches and solicitation strategies for volunteers. The MGO will also carry and develop their own portfolio of major gift prospects and donors.
Key Responsibilities:
· Maintain thorough knowledge and familiarity of Hadassah's mission and programs. Exhibit complete understanding of their gift and gift recognition policies.
· Liaise with the chapter leadership and area major gift teams within their region to implement a national strategic fundraising plan focusing on major gifts from individuals, corporations, foundations and Jewish Federations.
· Build upon a personal portfolio of major donor prospects and donors at all stages of development.
· Facilitate and stimulate area chapters to implement national fundraising campaigns directed to major gift prospects, including identification, cultivation, successful solicitation and stewardship, following a "moves management" process.
· Help chapters equip volunteer leaders with the knowledge they may need to further major gift fundraising in their units and to promote specific gift opportunities.
· Assist region and chapters in planning and implementing major gifts fundraising events.
· Collaborate in the design and production of financial, gift and donor reports.
· Maintain effective communications with area and national volunteers and staff.
Qualifications:
· Candidates must be experienced in successful Major Gift fundraising and possess the skills and abilities to teach and develop these skills in volunteers at chapters throughout their region. Must demonstrate knowledge of and level of comfort with development processes, including moves management.
· Excellent oral and written communications skills. This individual must work effectively with a significant group of donors and dedicated / experienced volunteers.
· Must be effective in interpersonal skills and relationship building.
· Ability to impart enthusiasm and a positive image of self and Hadassah. Ability to represent Hadassah effectively at events and meetings.
· Strong organizational skills. Computer proficiency and familiarity with fundraising databases is required.
· Ability to work effectively within the autonomy of a home office environment.
· BA/BS degree is preferred, Professional certification, i.e. CFRE is a plus.
· Must be open to regional and local travel, including some evening, weekend and occasional national travel.
